KIRK GREGOR Biography

Originally from Michigan, Kirk moved to Scottsdale with his family as a teen. Following his graduation from Arizona State’s Cronkite School of Broadcasting, he spent several years as an assistant to a producer at Universal Studios. He moved on to America West Airlines in the Cross-trained CSR program working in all aspects of the operation from flight attendant to baggage handler.  He was elected Panel Representative for the City of Las Vegas and assisted in restructuring efforts following their 1991 chapter 11 filing. During the reorganization he accepted a part-time position at Marriott’s Spa at Camelback Inn as a back-up and found his true calling. He has been in the Spa industry ever since.

After working eight years for both companies simultaneously, he moved to DMB Sports and the Village Health Clubs, opening their first Spa at Gainey Village in 1999. He later designed and opened two other spas for the company and made regular appearances in various outlets as media spokesman for Village Spas. He was the company’s Manager of the Year in 2002.

Having taught at Cortiva and Pima Medical Institutes, Kirk now is on the Board of Directors for Arizona State University’s Spa program, soon to be the nation’s only four year degree in Spa Management. He also founded the Arizona Spa Directors Council and has worked with the Scottsdale CVB to help promote the industry through various efforts including the creation of Scottsdale Fashion Week.

In 2006 Kirk left the Village to become Director of Spas for the Ambage Management Team, overseeing renovations for the Spa at Rancho Manana.

In 2008 he joined forces with Sabrina Cormack to create the Joya Spa at the Intercontinental and is currently Assistant Director of Spa for the 31,000sq ft facility.

(News Flash! Just in...January 2010.  Kirk is now Spa Director for the Village Spa at Gainey Village in Scottsdale.  Congratulations and we wish you well, Kirk!)
